KAT MUNOZ, INTERN
KAT MUNOZ, INTERN
Hi! I am Kat Munoz – an intern pursuing a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy at Northcentral University. It has been a life-long dream of mine to help couples and families navigate periods of transition. I completed a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Troy State University in 2006 and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Ashford University in 2010 before entering the United States Air Force as a Medical Service Corp Officer. From my own personal experiences with major life transitions and trauma grew an intense desire to help others foster healthy relationships while navigating individual healing.
With over 20 years’ experience as a military spouse and eight years of my own service in the United States Air Force, my clinical interests lie in treating couples’ and families’ issues in periods of transition (preparing for marriage, parenthood, divorce or deployment), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma, addiction, and grief. I am invested in an approach emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic and holistic approach to mental health and trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health. I believe an integrative approach in working with clients helps create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients’ feel empowered to process and heal.
When not busy raising 5 children, my hobbies include yoga, cooking, and reading; all of which can only be done in the company of my two standard poodles. I love sunshine, sweet tea and coffee and plants – and believe there can never be enough of any one of them. I am excited to continue to grow in this profession as I move with clients along their path to achieving their goals.
We’re excited to have someone with such experience and passion in our intern position. Likewise, we’re excited for Kat’s clients to experience that as well.
